RSHP in School
Sexual health and relationships education encourages open and clear communication to provide a foundation for the development of healthy sexual behaviours and attitudes. It is common however for adults to find these topics difficult or embarrassing to talk about with young people. Topics for education may include bodily autonomy, consent, relationships, abuse, contraception, sexually transmitted infections, and gender.
Launched in September 2019, was a national Relationships, Sexual Health and Parenthood (RSHP) schools resource. This is a ‘once in a lifetime’ opportunity to lead the way in terms of an age-appropriate, relevant, current resource that will better support children and young people 3-18 years in dealing with all that life in the present fast-moving age will throw at them.
The website is live and as well as being able to see the materials that can be used by teachers in a school setting, there is also information and activity sheets that can be used by anyone, including parents and carers, to support young people with particular topics and questions.
