Sexual Health Clinics
There are a number of sexual health clinics that operate in Lanarkshire. Our Young People’s (YP/YP+) clinics, operate on a walk-in basis, and all clinics are only accessible via a booked appointment. A limited number of clinics can now also be booked online. Some clinics are for young people aged 20 and under and some clinics only offer specific services. Young People Clinics (YP)
Clinics staffed by a sexual health nurse for young people aged 20 and under, services include; testing (STI/BBV), condoms, pregnancy testing, some forms of contraception.
Young People Plus Clinics (YP+)
Clinics staffed by a sexual health nurse and doctor for young people aged 20 and under, services include; testing (STI/BBV), STI treatment, PrEP available, condoms, pregnancy testing, all forms of contraception.
Sexual Health Clinic
Appointment based sexual health clinics.
Implants/Coils Only
Clinics for implant and coil insertion or change. These clinics do not offer implant or coil removal. There should be no risk of pregnancy before attending for a LARC procedure. Patients may be advised that the procedure cannot go ahead if there is any risk of pregnancy. Patients are advised that these walk-in clinics may be capped due to capacity and there is no guarantee that a patient will be seen. Only individuals living in the Lanarkshire Health Board area can attend these clinics.
Express Clinic (Online Booking)
Appointment-based clinics that only test for chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis and HIV. These clinics are suitable if you have no symptoms and simply want a sexual health MOT. In this clinic, we are unable to see:
- Men who have sex with men
- Anyone who has/may have symptoms suggestive of an STI
- Anyone who has been notified that a current or past partner has been treated for an STI
- Anyone who is attending as a result of a sexual assault
- Anyone requiring contraceptive advice
- Anyone who needs to ask questions
- Someone who uses or has used drugs in the past (including smoking, tablets, injecting )
- Someone with a tattoo and/or piercing performed with an unsterile needle
- A sex worker or someone working in the adult film industry
- Someone who has had sexual contact with someone who is HIV or Hepatitis positive.
- Someone who has had sex with a person from Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe or South America and has not been tested for Syphilis and/or HIV since.
